Blackwoods Campground

Before it started raining, we thought camping would be a great idea! We set up in Blackwoods Campground in Acadia NP.....Then, it started raining.

Bar Harbor.....................................at last!

Somehow, every year, when we finally get to Bar Harbor, we wonder why we didn't just come directly here! It is one of THE most beautiful places on earth!

Leaving PEI

We spent our first night on the road from PEI in Cobscook Bay State Park in Maine.

The park is located on a bay connected to the ocean, but pretty far inland. This makes for some striking scenery.
We set up our tent right along the bay-a gorgeous spot, especially by moonlight.
We crossed the border from Canada at Calais, Maine-which has a pretty old library.
A toll of $41.50 gets you across the Confederation Bridge which crosses the Northumberland Strait into New Brunswick.

Charlottetown deux

Kathie and I returned to Charlottetown for a final visit before we left the island.

We ate at a restaurant that provided blankets for the times it gets cold!

We asked directions, but had trouble finding someone who spoke English.

A french acadian band entertained us.

Every good town has a library.........or a Bibliotheque.
This sculpture in the city center is the only moose I've seen!

The Blue Shank

We weren't sure what "Blue Shank" meant, but decided to turn our bikes around and ride back through Kelvin's Grove to Kensington. Beautiful ride through freshly plowed potato fields.

Cousin's Shore Beach

We drove down to a beach on the north shore of PEI called Cousins' shore. We were all lone and enjoyed our own private time- this is one of my "art photos".
Kathi's footsteps lead to her flying her kite.
Another art shot.
Red cliffs against the sea.
Cousins Shore light house.

A small stream of water from the farmland above the beach cut a sweet curve through the beach.
They grow potatoes right up to the edge!

If you have a question, who d'ya ask? The librarian!

The Victorian houses of Charlottetown

Kathie met lots of friends at the Holy Trinity church. For 2 hours, as she quilted and conversed with Canadiens, I rode my bicycle around town. I was amazed at the lovely victorian-era houses with gingerbread which were beautifully painted.

Charlottetown

I took Kathie to a local quilt club meeting and rode my bike through the streets of Charlottetown. The capital of PEI, Charlottetown is a beautiful place on the water. Loads of old homes and waterfront. Sailboats sail through the harbor at sunset.
Victoria Park has a lovely sea walk and lovely views of the harbor and offshore islands.
A small light sits on the edge of Victoria Park.
Unexplained water shoots from a manhole cover in the street of a pedestrian walkway.

Victoria Row-a section with shops and walkway which had a jzz band p;aying when I rode by on my bike.
